I started this blog the year I turned 50. My goal was to complete 5 endurance events before reaching 51. Here’s the list:
1. Ride a Century (100 mile bike ride) – Complete: Big Dam Bridge 100, September 24, 2011.
2. Run a half marathon – Complete: Soaring Wings Half Marathon, October 29, 2011.
3. Run a full marathon – Scheduled: Little Rock Marathon, March 4, 2012.
4. Complete a full duathlon
5. Complete an Olympic distance triathlon.
I completed the challenge in August 2012, and discovered that I enjoyed the “endurance lifestyle”. While my training has ebbed and flowed with the demands of life, I’m still at it. I guess I’m not “Chasing Fifty” anymore (having caught it and then some), but the spirit is the same. Getting older ain’t so bad if you just keep moving.
